N.O.R.M is an acronym standing for Ninety-One Rear Meserole Street. Housed in an original South Williamsburg industrial loft, N.O.R.M is a live/work collective of artists and creatives. Artists A.E. Baker and Imogen Aukland are are printmakers and visual artists who use the space for organized and focused learning, discussions, and critiques. Baker and Aukland will open be opening their workspace and broadedning the N.O.R.M community by offering low-cost workshops for adults of all experience levels.
Amanda (A.E.) Baker is a visual artist and educator who makes intermedia works focused around themes of animals and nature. They teach printmaking to artists of all ages, experience levels, abilities, and backgrounds, and they have led workshops at community spaces such as Bluestockings Collective in NYC and the Natural History Center in Missoula, Montana.
Imogen Aukland is an intermedia artist living and working in Brooklyn, New York. Aukland’s practice combines and explores forms of collage, printmaking, and photography, often through both digital and analog processes. Her workshops focus on building skill, curiosity, and community.

Description: In just a short one-day session, participants will learn to carve, ink, and print a series of linoleum block prints. We will work with nature as a starting theme, looking at samples of relief printmaking inspired by animals and environment, and sketching ideas from books and taxidermy specimens. In this workshop, will use soft, easy to carve linoleum to keep the process accessible and open to beginner audiences.

Description: In this two-hour hands-on workshop, participants will each create their own collage out of print media. Using magazines and newspapers, we will explore ways of incorporating found text and imagery into collage. During the workshop, we will cover methods of transferring printed images onto paper and fabric. We will also look at and discuss examples of print media in college through historical and contemporary art. This course will cap at 4 participants and is open to a range of skill levels, including beginners.
